Christmas Angels
A simple, inexpensive craft you can make with your children.
Recommend ages 6 – 12 with appropriate parental assistance.

Supplies needed (makes approximately 1 dozen angels):
1 8" by 11" sheet of felt, one for each color: light blue and white, then choose a variety of colors: brown, yellow or black; pink or tan.
Card stock paper for the stencils
Large paper clips
School or craft glue
Gold Glitter
Red marker
Black Marker
Empty rolls from wrapping paper, paper towels or bathroom tissue (for napkin holder option)
Optional: scalloped-edged craft scissors

Directions:
Angel Wings: Draw two triangles, 1" on all three sides. Cut out. Glue or tape the points together in the center to form a set of wings. The outside edges of the wings can be cut in a scalloped shape. Trace on the white felt. Cut out. Put glue on the outside edges of the wings and sprinkle with gold glitter. Let dry.

Angel body: Draw a bell shape approximately 2" from top to bottom and 1-1/2" across the bottom. Cut out. Trace on the blue felt. Cut out.

Angel Head: Draw a circle 1/2" in diameter. Cut out. Trace on the tan or pink felt. Cut out.

Angel Hair: Draw any shape you would like for the hair. It will be glued on the angel head, so it should fit over the 1/2" circle. Trace on brown, black or yellow felt. Cut out.

Glue the wings on the back of the body so that the top of the body (bell shape) sticks up above the wings about 1/4". Glue the head on the top of the body. Glue the hair on the head. Use a black marker to draw eyes on the face and a red marker to draw a mouth.

Cut out a small square of blue felt. Put one half of the paper clip behind the angel, one-half should show above the head (this will form a hook for your Christmas tree). Glue the bottom half of the paper clip behind the angel body, use the small square of blue felt to cover the paper clip and hold it in place. Let dry. You can use a fancy gold pen or small gold numbers available at your local craft store to write the year at the bottom of the body. Young children can place these at the dinner table for guests or hang them on the tree as a keepsake.

Napkin holder option:
Instead of attaching a paper clip, cut wrapping paper, paper towel or bathroom tissue tubes into 1" sections. Use craft glue and cover with 1" strips of yellow felt. Fold excess felt under 1" tube and glue down. Glue completed angel on the covered 1" tube at the seam. You can use these for nametags as well by cutting up labels to fit at the bottom of the angel body. If you use a label that is not too sticky, you can reuse them next year.

Hugs and Kisses Angels
(Makes 1 doz. or More)

Supplies needed:

1 package of Hershey’s Kisses, any variety
1 package of Hershey’s Hugs
1 package of small gold or silver glitter craft pom-poms
2 dozen white pipe cleaners with gold or silver accents
1 page card stock paper
1 gold or silver pen
School or craft glue

Optional: scalloped edged craft scissors

Cut off one third of the pipe cleaner. Using remaining two-thirds, form a bow with the bottom half, and with the remaining half still attached sticking straight up from the middle of the bow, form a small loop and bend at a 90 degree angle. Glue pom-pom to the top of Hershey’s hug or kiss. Glue bow-shaped portion of pipe cleaner to the back of the Hershey’s hug or kiss. The loop should be over the pom-pom ball to form a halo.

Cut 1" by 1" squares of card stock (use craft scissors if you want a scalloped edge). Use the gold or silver pen to write, "Hugged by an Angel" or "Kissed by an Angel" on the appropriate candies. Your angel kisses can be placed at each dinner place setting or scattered as decorations on the buffet table. They also make cute decorations on the top of small packages or baked good gifts.
